It was an outstanding presentation where Dan displayed several art pieces on an easel and gave insights into how he creates his art. Maggie called him "a Legend." DANIEL LOONEY ARTIST STATEMENT: Dan Looney – I Paint Idaho! Dan Looney, Idaho artist, is celebrating 50 years of painting professionally as he promotes his unique refreshing style of artwork on social media and events. Dan’s paintings are mixed media of Idaho landscapes, cityscapes and surrounding areas created with an imaginative eye and unique perspective. He calls them “Whimsical Realism.” A significant component of his artistic career has been through participating in Art in the Park since 1976, the longest active participant. Dan was very honored to have received a 2018 Idaho Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts for Painting and Entrepreneurship and also a 2020 Silver and Gold Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Idaho. He has also been nominated for the Idaho Esto Perpetua Award for contributions to the preservation of Idaho history through his artwork and professional accomplishments.
